Solid Dispersion of Artemether in Fast Disintegrating Tablet to Enhance Dissolution Rate and Oral Bioavailability

Abstract: Objectives: Artemether (ART), an antimalarial drug, have poor solubility and low bioavailability. Therefore, solid dispersion of the drug was formulated using Soluplus (SOL) incorporated in fast disintegrating tablet. Materials Methods: The (SD) prepared solvent evaporation method a rotary evaporator. optimized SD evaluated then into Results: Solubility studies revealed that ART A3 ratio 1:3 (ART: SOP) showed significantly higher dissolution rate than plain ART. FTIR results indicated there no incompatibility between hydrophilic carrier. DSC as well XRD transformation from crystalline state amorphous form. SEM deposition on surface In-vitro activity improved due to formulation. Fast tablet produced by directly compressible excipients such Ludiflash Ludipress. containing disintegration with release. pharmacokinetic study mice increased Cmax AUC0–24 1.88- 3.19-fold compared those drug. Conclusion: SDs SOP provided platform for also bioavailability feasibility Key words: Artemether, Solid dispersion, tablet, Malaria, in-vivo study.
